Dr. Donald Ratajczak, Consulting Economist

Dr. Ratajczak works with Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. as its exclusive consulting economist. He is one of the leading econometric forecasters in the country currently serving as Regents Professor Emeritus of Economics at Georgia State University. He previously served as Director of the Economic Forecasting Center in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University from 1973 until June 2000. He also was a Professor of Economics in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. In 2000 he founded Brainworks Ventures, Inc., an Atlanta, Georgia based venture development company and served as its CEO and Chairman of the Board until it merged with AssuranceAmerica in April 2003.He remains on the board of directors of Ruby Tuesday, Inc., TBC Corporation, Regan Holdings, and Citizens Trust Bank.
Dr. Ratajczak has developed econometric models for the United States, the Southeast, and several individual states. He produces weekly economic commentary and forecast and a monthly forecast of short-term national and financial conditions. His commentary on inflation regularly receives prominent attention from the national media. Dr. Ratajczak writes a weekly column for the Atlanta Journal Constitution and a bimonthly column for the Journal of Financial Services Professionals. He also contributes articles on a regular basis to several other publications.
Dr. Ratajczak speaks before numerous business organizations and groups. He also speaks before or has provided consulting services to numerous corporations, business organizations and governmental entities.
Dr. Ratajczak has been quoted and interviewed extensively by both the print and broadcast media which include The New York Times, Journal of Commerce, Business Week, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Time, The Los Angeles Times, NBC and CNN.
Dr. Ratajczak received the Annual Economic Forecasting Award on November 9, 1994 for the most accurate U.S. Blue Chip economic forecast during the previous four years.
Dr. Ratajczak received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College and Doctorate of Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
